Headspace Bursary Program

headspace Morwell provides services to young people aged 12-25 in the Latrobe Valley and surrounding regions.

Fully integrated with LCHS’s youth services, our office is located in Morwell and includes 20 staff who work to provide support to young people and their family and friends, in the areas of mental health, alcohol and drug, general health, relationships, sexuality and work and study.

The headspace and youth services teams includes:-headspace (mental health counselling, brief intervention and group work, ages 12-25)

  • Community engagement (mental health education, promotion and events
  • Kids Connect (early intervention family support for young people and families who are at risk of negative mental health outcomes, ages 0-18)
  • Healthy Equal Youth (HEY) (mental health promotion and community engagement activities with focus on   LGBTIQA+ young people ages 12-25)
  • Innovative Health Support for Homeless Youth (IHSHY) (support for young people experiencing or at risk of homelessness)
  • Youth AOD programs (outreach based drug and alcohol support for young people or groups)
  • Youth reference group (volunteer group for young people to co design centre activities and events and promote positive mental health in the community)

The headspace Bursary program has been designed for Social Work and Occupational Therapy students who identify as LGBTQIA+, First Nations or for those that have lived/living experiences of mental health. 

Please note that this opportunity is only available between January & June 2024. Placement hours must be completed by June 30.

Bursaries will be paid at $75 per day. Additional financial support for travel or accommodation can be negotiated.
