For Social Work Students
Are you a student looking to gain hands-on experience and make a real difference in the lives of young people?
headspace Morwell, fully integrated with Latrobe Community Health Service (LCHS) youth programs, is now offering Batchelor or Master of Social Work placements students from April and May 2026.Â
Important Information – Student Placement (Morwell)
This placement opportunity is based in Morwell and is suitable for social work students seeking to complete their 500-hour placement requirement.
Please apply only if you are currently enrolled in a social work program and able to attend placement in Morwell for the duration of the required 500 hours.
🌱 About Us
headspace Morwell provides services to young people aged 12–25 across the Latrobe Valley and surrounding regions. Our multidisciplinary team of 20+ staff offers support in:

🧠Our youth-focused services include:

headspace clinical services: Mental health counselling, brief interventions, and group work (ages 12–25)

Community Engagement: Mental health education, promotion, and events

Kids Connect: Early intervention family support (ages 0–18)

Healthy Equal Youth (HEY): Mental health promotion for LGBTIQA+ youth (ages 12–25)

IHSHY: Support for young people experiencing or at risk of homelessness

Youth AOD Programs: Outreach-based alcohol and drug support

Youth Reference Group: Volunteer-led co-design and youth advocacy initiatives

 preference is for final year placements however first 500 hour placements will be considered if previous relevant work histor

Placements are 500 hours and preference is full time, however part time will be consideredÂ

Futher Supports for Students;Â
Rural Workforce Victoria – Student Placement Grants (Mental Health)
Students of Occupational Therapy, Social Work, Nursing, and Psychology can access up to $7,500 ($575/week) to support mental health placements in rural and regional Victoria.
The grant helps cover travel, accommodation, commuting, and relocation costs and is awarded on a first-come, first-served basis.
Applications for Student Placement Grants are open until 31 December 2026. These Grants are not funded by LCHS, any questions or applications for Student Placement Grants can be directed to the below;
