Payroll Officer

What you’ll be doing in this role?

You will support business‑as‑usual payroll processing or project‑related tasks as part of a team responsible for payroll services for approximately 1,800 staff using TechnologyOne.

Your work will include:

Business‑as‑Usual role

  • Prepare and process end‑to‑end payroll on a fortnightly cycle.
  • Validate timesheets, leave requests, allowances, penalties, overtime and shift loadings.
  • Ensure correct interpretation of EBAs, Awards, contracts and organisational policies.
  • Process new starters, terminations, contract variations, deductions and employee record changes.
  • Assist with payroll reconciliation to ensure accuracy prior to approval.

System preparation role

  • Conduct leave audits, including long service leave, to prepare for data migration to a new payroll system.
  • Data cleanse the current payroll system in preparation for data migration to the new system.
  • Assist with back log of certificate of service entries and employee queries.

 

What You’ll Need

  • Experience in a similar payroll role, ideally within a medium to large organisation.
  • Experience in end‑to‑end payroll processing.
  • Familiarity with interpreting EBAs/Awards (health or community services advantageous).
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation, including long service leave.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a commitment to high‑quality customer service.
