First Nations Liaison Officer

Located in Latrobe Valley area of Gippsland, Part-time 45.6 hrs / fortnight, fixed term until June 2027

What you’ll be doing in this role?
Latrobe Community Health Service is guided by First Nations communities to reach our goal of equitable health and wellness outcomes. This role contributes to this by advocating for First Nations clients and assisting in their care coordination, including linking with appropriate services and attending and facilitating transport to appointments as required.
This role contributes to the LCHS First Nations and Wellbeing plan by working alongside the First Nations communities; ensuring that our sites are culturally welcoming and accessible; that our services are culturally appropriate and culturally safe and by removing barriers that First Nations communities experience when accessing our services.
Your work will include:
- Care coordination and improving health literacy of First Nations clients
- Engagement with First Nations clients and communities
- Assisting in meeting the goals of the First Nations Health and Wellbeing Strategy
What you'll need:
- A current Victorian Drivers Licence
- A current Working with Children Check (Employee) or VIT Registration
Desirable qualifications
- A tertiary degree, preferably in a health related discipline and/or in the area of Community Development and/or, substantial work experience or an equivalent combination of relevant work experience and education and training.

This is an Aboriginal Designated Position, classified under 'special measures' of section 12 of the Equal Opportunity Act 2010.
Only Aboriginal and / or Torres Strait Islander people are eligible to apply.
Knowledge and understanding of First Nations people and communities in Gippsland.
